Everything we have covered so far is united by one common theme: the denial of any idea of absolute standards by the prescriptions of Psychology as Religion, while it uses furtive force to impose absolute standards of its own. Yet this destruction of free speech is not just an issue for those whose freedom is destroyed; it is also, ultimately, destructive for those who do the destroying. Look at the lives of the great dictators of history and how they dealt with those who spoke out against them: the fate of such people was, at best, to be ignored; or at worst, to be silenced by execution. The result? Dictators only heard what they wanted to hear and they became increasingly detached from reality. Once that happened they were no longer controllers of anything real. Instead, they descended into deluded fantasy worlds; often consumed with paranoia. Allowing freedom of speech is a way of encouraging discovery and learning. A succesful control system is one which includes feedback; and that, in society, is the role of free speech. (More about control later . . .)
